We provide protective aprons for messy activities, and for babies and toddlers we provide bibs at meal and snack times. However, your child may still need a change of clothes whilst at Nursery, so we ask you to provide at least one named, spare set of clothing, suitable for the Nursery environment. We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off and putting on outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them do this.
We want your child to feel comfortable and ‘at home’ whilst at Nursery, and ask that you provide a pair of slippers or soft shoes for them to wear inside. There will always be someone to help your child change into their outdoor shoes when they want to play outside, and we will encourage and support them in learning to change their shoes independently. To protect your child when playing outside, we also ask that you provide a warm coat and Wellingtons in the winter, and a sun hat in the summer months.
We do lots of messy activities at nursery and some products such as paints may stain clothing. Whilst we do our best to protect your child’s clothes, it is best not to send them to nursery in any items that are new or particularly special.
